This wardrobe was a challenging commission due to a very specific design brief. Due to the compact dimensions of the various bedrooms in a converted farm steading, each unit had to fit within a specified given space with either a left or right opening door. The requirement specified a space to store a small travel bag, personal items and a hanging space to accommodate a gentleman’s suit and shirts plus a full length lady’s dress. The compact dimension of 197cm tall, 57cm wide and 40cm deep was actually smaller externally than a competing design whilst giving a greater internal space. These units were made from solid Oak and the mirrored doors were finished with a Malmo Sapphire cloth lined inner aspect to give it a fine finished look. The two internal shelves were also sympathetically shaped which allowed a full length dress to be hung from the rail without being crushed by the door. The special SOSS hinges and black metal finger push plates as used on the doors gave a classy and unobtrusive look. For this particular commission, European Oak was chosen which complimented the style and look of the converted farm steading but any type type of wood can be used and all of the dimensions can be altered to give a bespoke solution for a discerning client.
